Notes on Rust

Notes on learning Rust.

Resources

These are the resources which have been most useful for me. You might also find them especially useful if, like me, you have experience with type-theoretic functional programming (OCaml, Haskell, SML, F#, etc.) and vanilla, weakly typed, procedural programming (C), but still find yourself tormenting (or being tormented by) the borrow checker, and struggling with various clunky infelicities of the heavily typed imperative idioms required for rust.

Rust: A unique perspective

This short essay re-frames the imperative notions of mutability and immutable borrowing and lifetimes in terms of the more declarative and structural concepts of uniqueness and sharing. As promissed in the intro, it helps illuminate reasons why the mutable/immutable borrowing and ownership constructs behave as they do.
